WHAT WE DO
CONDITION ASSESSMENTS, DOCUMENTATION, ANALYSIS & RESEARCH
Our conservators provide thorough examinations and documentation of your collection items, as well as conduct analysis and research as needed. This can be done prior to treatment, shipping, exhibition/loan, or to monitor your object over time. Additionally, we provide couriers for fragile works to monitor during travel.
CONSERVATION & RESTORATION TREATMENT
Conservation treatments are intended to slow deterioration and/or make an object appear or function as it was intended, while maintaining the historic integrity of the object. This may also include regular maintenance of a work. Treatments can be performed in our studio space in just outside of Chicago, in an allied art storage facility, or on-site as needed.
COLLECTIONS CARE SURVEYS & CONSULTATION
Surveys are conducted in order to review current condition issues or environmental factors that may be contributing to increased deterioration of a collection. This may include reviewing environmental parameters, storage materials, or handling practices. These surveys are often used to prioritize the needs of a collection, or apply for funding to complete preservation or treatment initiatives.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Our services include working with your organization to help guide you through major projects. We work with registrars and conservators as appropriate to manage major sculpture or object installations, complicated conservation projects, small exhibitions, and sensitive shipping projects.
TRAINING
We love working with people and sharing our knowledge! Whether your institution needs a refresher on condition reporting and photography or needs help devising and enacting a maintenance plan for non-conservators, we can help create these plans and host training sessions.
emergency preparedness training & response
We can provide training and emergency planning consultation to help your institution or the individuals in charge of your collection be prepared for emergency situations like floods, fire, and evacuation. We can also help respond to an emergency event, to help ensure the appropriate handling of your collection.
